These things are grey as far as I know. Display is HUGELY different from publish and is also different from SELLING. As far as i know If you display, you need no model release but if you sell the image, you 100% need a model release if you can identify the subject and the subject is not a celebrity. "Publishing" is different than selling and it would likely depend on the publisher who will indeed probably require that model release.

Holy Moly - Banning cameras...I guess i will never visit Kuwait while I am alive and I'll be sure to mention to all my travel buddies (tourists with money) that Kuwait is one of the most unfriendly places on planet earth when it comes to photography.

I read some thing similar to your post at google news... I became intrigued and then began searching around, and landed at this site... in any case, I believe that I mostly agree with what you talk about here. But I am going to go see what additional information I can look up too.

I understand the right to 'photograph' anything and anyone without being hassled. My question is, do i have the right to publish and/or display for the purpose of a sale or simply as a display of my work, images of those persons whether or not it is for compensation. Must I always have written permission/model release from the people in the photos in order for me to put that image up for sale or on display?
This is in relation to Canadian law.
thanks
Cliff
please direct me to any further info regarding this issue if possible.
